Donor Recognition Profiles

Several of our special donors took some time to tell us about their connection with the East Stroudsburg University community and the ways in which they support our growth and improvement.  We would like to share these thoughtful responses with our alumni and friends.

 

Dr. Lester Abeloff ’39

Richard '60 and Jean '89 Brewer
Richard and Jean come from a family of educators and ESU alumni.  The Brewers have three sons, two of whom are college educators.  Both of Richard's older brothers attended East Stroudsburg State Teachers College and his niece is a graduate of ESU as well.  Richard received his bachelor's degree in health education and was involved in athletics...more
   

Joe ’63 and Joanne (Montague) ’64 Heverin

Joe earned his degree in secondary education from East Stroudsburg State College in 1963.  He is the current chair of the ESU Foundation Board and was inducted into the ESU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996 for his performance as a member of the Warriors football team.   He is the owner of Multi-Financial Consultants in Washington, NJ.  Joanne earnedmore  

   

Warren ’55 and Sandra (Stockey) Hoeffner
Warren, the Chairman of the Board of Rex-Hide Incorporated, received his bachelor’s degree in history and geography from East Stroudsburg State Teachers College in 1955.  He is a member of the ESU Heritage Society and the founder of the Warren Hoeffner Scholarship.  The formermore

 

Dr. Frances Hughes                            

Frances, who was awarded an honorary doctor of humane letters degree in May 2007, is a member of the board of directors for the Pocono Community Bank and a retired public school art teacher.  She is a long-time supporter of many charities and non-profitmore                      

                 

 
Dr. R. Sam ’82 and Linda-Lee (Troiani) ’83 Niedbala
Sam and Linda-Lee, co-chairs of the ESU comprehensive campaign Today’s Dream, Tomorrow’s Reality, are the founders of OraSure Technologies, Inc. where Sam was the Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer.  Sam earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from ESU in 1982 followed by his master’s and Ph.D. in chemistry...more
